Questions (594)

John Lyons

Question:

594. Deputy John Lyons asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if the proposed national diaspora centre will have an entrepreneurship dimension, seeking to upskill the recent generation of emigrants in order to attract diaspora investment and link members of the diaspora with each other to develop entrepreneurship potential; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The purpose of the call for expressions of interest to build a Diaspora Centre is to develop a tourist attraction that will attract overseas visitors and enhance their experience in Ireland. Based on the research to date an entrepreneurship dimension would not fulfil those aims and therefore, an entrepreneurship dimension will not form part of the call for expressions of interest nor the basis on which those expressions of interest will be assessed.
