View answerThere are currently 1,524 Defence Forces vehicles on the Defence Organisation asset register. In addition to the Defence Forces vehicles, my Department owns 445 civilian vehicles, 435 of which comprise the Civil Defence fleet including 4x4s, minibuses, ambulances and fire tenders and a further 10 vehicles which are operated by civilian employees at military installations. All State owned vehicles are exempt from the requirement to hold motor tax.
