230. Deputy Dessie Ellis asked the Minister for Education and Skills if he will provide an update on the status of plans for the new building for a school (details supplied); and if he will confirm that building work will commence in 2014. [17440/14]
View answerThe major school building project for the school referred to by the Deputy is currently at an advanced stage of architectural planning and the Design Team are currently working on the completion of the Stage 2b submission. The project was included in the announcement of the 2014 specific school building programme. However, my Department was recently notified that the decision of An Bord Pleanála dated 20 November 2013 to grant planning permission for the major project for the school in question is now the subject of judicial proceedings in the High Court. My Department will monitor developments in regard to the judicial proceedings as they are progressed and will keep the school informed as to the further progression of the project in that context. In the meantime, the design team will continue work to complete stage 2(b) of the architectural planning process.
