Deputy Jonathan O'Brien asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the number of persons detained under section 9 of the Refugee Act 1996 in 2012 and 2013 and the average length of detention; the number of persons detained under section 5 of the Immigration Act 1999 in 2012 and 2013 and the average length of detention; the number of persons detained under section 5 of the Immigration Act 2003 in 2012 and 2013 and the average length of detention; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In the time available it has not been possible to obtain the information requested by the Deputy from the Garda authorities. I will write to the Deputy in due course on the matters raised.
