583. Deputy Pat Deering asked the Minister for Health the reason a 16 year old Down's syndrome patient (details supplied) with severe Hallux Valgus deformity of their feet, who was recently transferred from Crumlin Hospital to Tallaght Hospital on age grounds was sent to the Beacon Clinic in January 2014 for outsourced treatment has now been told that, despite the seriousness of their condition, the surgery cannot be performed as the outsourcing of long-term patients has been discontinued; and the reason they are back on the waiting list for an appointment to be assessed again, having been assessed already; and when this assessment will take place.
