285. Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for Social Protection the number of persons that have been temporarily accommodated by its new communities unit, Gardiner Street, Dublin 1 in 2013; the locations of the accommodation used; the nationality of those accommodated; and the average length of time that persons have been accommodated for. A total of 2,756 customers were accommodated on a temporary basis by the New Communities Unit over the twelve months, January to December 2013. This is an average of approximately 53 per week. The accommodation provided to the customers was located in Dublin postal districts 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 14, 24, and in County Dublin. The nationalities of those accommodated include Polish, Romanian, Moldovan, Lithuanian, Latvian, Nigerian, Bulgarian, South African, Somalian, Mauritian and American. The average length of stay per booking is 12 weeks.
