669. Deputy Terence Flanagan asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport his views regarding accessibility to public transport for persons with blindness; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26648/14]
View answerAccessibility improvements to public transport services are being advanced in the context of Transport Access for All, the Transport Sectoral Plan under the Disability Act 2005. The Plan is available on my Department’s website www.dttas.ie and is premised on the principle that through accessibility improvements to the public transport system for people with disabilities including people with visual impairments, access for all people will be improved. This is being done as extensively as possible having regard to the availability of resources. A committee, which includes representatives of people with visual impairments, is in place to monitor delivery of actions under the Plan and to make recommendations in that regard.
