131. Deputy Denis Naughten asked the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources if he will make funding available to support local sub-aqua clubs that had a significant financial outlay as part of the recent large scale and prolonged search and recovery operation on Lough Ree; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I refer to my reply to Question No. 129 of 27 March 2014. The position is unchanged.

Inland Fisheries Ireland is and always has been prepared to assist search and rescue or recovery operations in practicable ways insofar that it can. The provision of funding to clubs as suggested in the question is not within it's statutory remit.
