Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht the number of retired civil and public servants that have been rehired on temporary contracts or as consultants under his remit; if he will provide a breakdown of those figures in tabular form, providing associated costs of such rehiring; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Since its establishment in June 2011, my Department has rehired a small number of its retired civil servants (2) on temporary contracts or as consultants, as set out in the following table:

For the sake of completeness as I have previously advised the House, one of my Special Advisers, Mr. James Kenny is a retired schoolteacher. Mr Kenny's salary, following abatement, is €42,941 per annum. I am also advised that bodies under the aegis of my Department have rehired a small number (5) of their public servants on temporary contracts or as consultants, as set out in the following table:
