194. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection if repayments of €5 per week will be accepted in respect of overpayment in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [41454/14]
View answerThe current legislation allows this Department to recoup overpayments at 15% of a person’s personal rate of payment per week. In the case of the person concerned consideration was given at the time to the overpayment amount and to the amount of income received. As the person concerned is receiving a salary in addition to her one parent family payment an overpayment deduction amount of €28.20 per week was applied in this case. It is open to the person concerned to request a review of her overpayment deduction at her local office.
