Deputy Michael McCarthy asked the Minister for Justice and Equality if her attention has been drawn to an increasing level of violent crime against taxi drivers, including a high incidence of theft; the measures she plans to take to combat same; and if she will make a statement on the matter. View answerI am advised that An Garda Síochána liaises with relevant agencies and stakeholders on a regular basis in relation to concerns about all categories of crime and road traffic matters.
I have sought a specific report from the Garda authorities in relation to the particular concerns expressed by the Deputy. I will contact the Deputy directly when I receive the Garda report.
