Questions (104)

Dessie Ellis

Question:

104. Deputy Dessie Ellis asked the Minister for Health his plans for the primary health care facility which was recently refused planning permission in the Finglas area in Dublin 11; if he has issued instructions to the Health Service Executive to view new sites and begin this process as a matter of urgency, as it is extremely important that progress is made on a new site as soon as possible. Both Minister Varadkar and I are extremely disappointed by the decision of An Bord Pleanala not to grant planning permission for the Finglas primary care centre which was to be located at Mellowes Road and serve the local communities of Finglas south and west. Finglas south and west remains a priority for both the Department and the HSE as it is one of the communities most in need of access to primary care services. The HSE is reviewing the situation to determine what can be done; therefore there has been no need to issue instructions.
