Deputy Peadar Tóibín asked the Minister for Health if children with Morquio syndrome who are in receipt of Vimizim will be able to remain on the drug into the future in view of the fact that they have been informed that access to the drug will cease on 5 December 2017 (details supplied). Under the Health (Pricing and Supply of Medical Goods) Act 2013, the HSE has statutory responsibility for the pricing and reimbursement of the community drug schemes; therefore, the matter has been referred to the HSE for attention and direct reply to the Deputy.
