269. Deputy Michael Harty asked the Minister for Justice and Equality his plans for legislative change to put the use of community and local authority CCTV schemes on a solid legal footing; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5950/18]
View answerI wish to inform the Deputy that there is already in place a statutory framework set out in section 38 of the Garda Síochána Act 2005 to provide the legal footing for the installation and operation of, amongst other things, community and local authority CCTV schemes for the sole or primary purpose of securing public order and safety in public places.
