129. Deputy Mattie McGrath asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the reason his Department is appealing a judgment (details supplied) in the Supreme Court concerning the rights of the unborn child; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10365/18]
View answerI am informed by the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS) of my Department that this case relates to a person who was the subject of a Deportation Order made on 20 October, 2008. The person referred to brought a Judicial Review of this decision to the High Court. As the appeal of the High Court decision is now before the Supreme Court and as the case is still sub judice I do not propose to comment further. The State has presented its case before the Supreme Court and judgment is awaited.
