View answerMy Department provides funding, under Section 10 of the Housing Act 1988, to housing authorities towards the costs of providing accommodation and related services for homeless persons. Section 10 funding of €109.2m million was provided to housing authorities towards the costs of homeless services in 2017. This funding is made available on a regional basis.
Westmeath County Council is the lead authority for the Midlands Region, which also encompasses Laois County Council, Longford County Council and Offaly County Council. Section 10 exchequer funding of €1,467,615 was provided to the Midlands Region towards homeless services in 2017.
