Deputy Mick Barry asked the Minister for Health if a group has been established in his Department to examine the provision of free contraception; if the group has formulated a comprehensive response to the development of a free contraception service; the funding to be allocated to the development of this service for 2018, 2019 and 2020; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I established a group, under the chairmanship of the Chief Medical Officer, to consider the issues raised by the Joint Committee on the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution in their ancillary recommendations.

Work is ongoing to explore all of the issues associated with enhancing access to contraception.
