Deputy Thomas Byrne asked the Minister for Education and Skills the number of school projects that have experienced difficulty or delay due to issues with construction contractors on an annual basis in 2016, 2017 and to date in 2018; and the name of each project by county in tabular form. I refer the Deputy to the following table, which gives a breakdown of the major school building projects that have experienced difficulty due to building contractors going into examinership or liquidation processes from 2016-2018. This did not apply to any projects in 2016. In 2017, there were issues with two projects and to date in 2018, seventeen projects have been affected.
