445. My Department has been in ongoing contact with the European Commission in relation to the implications for Ireland arising from Brexit and in preparations for various potential scenarios. The negotiations on the future relationship between the EU and the UK are being led by the Task Force under Michel Barnier and are not being conducted on a bilateral basis between Ireland and the UK. The matter raised by the Deputy, mutual recognition for legal requirements such as AEO qualifications, will no doubt form part of the EU/UK negotiations on the future relationship. I have no function, as Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport for AEO qualifications. These are a matter for my colleague the Minister for Finance and the Revenue Commissioners.
