177. Deputy Martin Kenny asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the number of farmers in the BDG scheme on course to meet their herds' 20% target by 31 October 2018; the number not on course to meet their target; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [40402/18]
View answerThere are currently approximately 22,600 herds on target to meet the minimum 20% 4 or 5 star female requirements by 31st October 2018. At present there are approximately 600 herds not on target but this is expected to reduce when the next evaluations issue shortly. The Irish Cattle Breeding Federation has issued reports to those participants not meeting this requirement advising them to source replacement females.
