At the outset of the North East Inner City (NEIC) Initiative, care was taken to ensure that area would be the right size to allow the work to be focused, while encompassing areas identified as disadvantaged.

Sheriff Street, Seán McDermott Street, Ballybough and Summerhill - all areas identified as very disadvantaged - have been included under the Initiative.

That said, a pragmatic approach is being taken by the Programme Implementation Board to the inclusion of projects from the surrounding area, including East Wall, where there is clear overlap and/or a value in working collaboratively, for the benefit of the NEIC community.

While there are no plans to extend the boundary as such, all services used by the NEIC community are welcome to apply for funding or other assistance - through the NEIC Programme Implementation Board - if it can be demonstrated that the proposed purpose is in line with the recommendations of the Mulvey Report.
