Illness Benefit (IB) is paid for a maximum of  two years (624 payment days) where at least 260 weeks of reckonable social insurance contributions have been paid since the person first started work. The person concerned was in receipt of IB and was paid up until 5th September 2018 when her benefit exhausted.

The person's request to be granted a Back to Education Allowance is being examined and the Department will revert to her shortly in that regard.

I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
