837. Deputy Bríd Smith asked the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment the source and amount of biomass that Bord na Móna will import to co-fire the affected power stations that use peat production; the plans Bord na Móna has to source biomass in the period ahead to replace its ceased peat production; and the studies carried out on the projected CO2 emissions of this sourced biomass. Bord na Móna is a commercial State company operating under the Turf Development Acts 1946 to 1998. The matter raised by the Deputy is operational in nature and not one in which I, as Minister, have any function.
