Questions (498)

Clare Daly

Question:

498. Deputy Clare Daly asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the reason he did not request an environmental impact assessment, EIA, for new in-lough disposal of dredged material from Warrenpoint Harbour in Carlingford Lough rather than the current location 22 miles out at sea during the Northern Ireland Warrenpoint Harbour #Authority EIA screening consultation (details supplied). My Department engaged pro-actively with the consultation process associated with the project referred to by the Deputy and supported the provision of a comprehensive and detailed level of impact assessment for the proposal which would be comparable to an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
