285. Deputy Clare Daly asked the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs the status of the Adoption (Information and Tracing) Bill 2016. [51085/18]

As the Deputy is aware, I am committed to the enactment of this legislation. The intention is to bring the Bill back to the Seanad for Committee Stage in January 2019.

This important legislation will give adopted people, people who have been the subject of an illegal birth registration, birth parents and relevant guardians a statutory right to an information and tracing service. It will also provide for the transfer of relevant records into the custody of the State.
