172. Deputy Thomas P. Broughan asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform the public bodies and other entities under the aegis of his Department for which he is responsible for making all or some appointments which are not subject to the guidelines on appointments to State boards, in that the recruitment and selection process is undertaken by his Department and not through the Public Appointments Service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In response to the Deputy's question, I can confirm that in respect of the public bodies and other entities under the aegis of my Department, the recruitment and selection process for board members is not undertaken directly by my Department.
