338. Deputy Robert Troy asked the Minister for Education and Skills his views on whether it is equitable that conditions of planning associated with new educational buildings are not funded by his Department; and his further views on whether his Department should be responsible for additional costs associated with the planning condition as set by the local authority. My Department deals with conditions of planning associated with new educational buildings on a case specific basis. My Department provides funding towards the cost of conditions of planning where it is deemed appropriate. My Department also works with School Authorities to appeal conditions of planning where it is judged to be warranted.
