Deputy Jackie Cahill asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the regulatory provisions in place with respect to forestry planting; the setback distances from dwelling houses and associated buildings, respectively; if changes to set back distances are being considered; and the process involved to adjust such provisions. View answerThe Forestry Act 2014, which was commenced on 24th May 2017, along with the Forestry Regulations 2017 (SI No 191/2017) are the regulatory provisions in place with regard to forestry operations. In tandem with this, there are a number of guidelines and standards, which detail the technical requirements of forestry plantations. These are readily available on my Department's website.
Setback distances from dwelling houses are laid down in the Forestry Standards Manual and are 60 metres or 30 metres with the written consent of the dwelling owner. There are no plans to adjust these provisions.
