253. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection if a person (details supplied) is liable for the deduction of the total amount accruing from employment in payment of jobseeker's allowance; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4934/19]
View answerJobseeker's Allowance (JA) is a means-tested payment made to people who are unemployed. In order to determine means, the person concerned provided payment details for one day's employment for the week in question. Based on this information, the means calculated exceeded the weekly entitlement therefore no JA was payable to the person concerned for that week.
I hope this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
