86. Deputy Thomas P. Broughan asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the categories in which large vehicles are required to be equipped with a tachograph; the categories of such vehicles that are exempt; the road safety measures that will be introduced to improve safety regarding heavy goods and public service vehicles; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Such a question falls within the remit of the Road Safety Authority and accordingly, it would normally be referred to the Authority for direct reply to the Deputy. However, I understand that such a reply issued from the RSA on 11 February 2019 to the Deputy in respect of this specific matter.
