584. Deputy Thomas P. Broughan asked the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government his views on the drawdown of local authority home improvement loans; his views on whether supplementary funding should be provided for this purpose in 2019; and if he will make a statement on the matter. It is a matter for local authorities as lenders to administer the Local Authority Home Improvement Loan Scheme and to make the final decisions on Home Improvement Loan Scheme applications. If prospective applicants do not meet the eligibility criteria or where loan applications are declined, the option available is to seek loan facilities from one of the commercial lending institutions.

I am satisfied that local authorities can access sufficient funding to operate this scheme.
