Deputy Eamon Scanlon asked the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government the status of the legislative review process regarding the holding of plebiscites by certain local authorities; when the associated regulations will be laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas for consideration; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Local Government Act 2019 was enacted in January 2019. The Regulations to prescribe how plebiscites on place-names are to be conducted by a local authority or municipal district are at an advanced stage of preparation.
