View answerUnder its establishing legislation, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a statutory role in relation to the co-ordination of environmental research in Ireland. The Agency receives an annual allocation from the Vote of my Department in respect of this research strategy. Under the Environmental Protection Agency Act 1992, as amended, the EPA is independent in performing its day-to-day statutory functions and, accordingly, I have no role in this matter. However, I understand that further information on the project in question, if required, can be obtained directly on request to the Agency.
