1187. Deputy Joe Carey asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the position when a farmer enters into a GLAS contract on leased lands and during the GLAS contract period a new lease is issued by the landowner subsequent to which the farmer cannot fulfil their GLAS obligations for the overall length of the GLAS contract; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Actions undertaken for GLAS, whether on owned, leased or rented lands must be delivered for the entire period of the GLAS contract and this is clearly stated in the Terms and Conditions of the scheme.

Where a participant cannot fulfil their GLAS obligations due to an issue with a lease and the GLAS contract is terminated, all payments made under that contract must be reimbursed.
