View answerThe three Royal Navy University training boats were in Ireland as part of a routine visit. These boats are part of the University Royal Naval Unit fleet, whose primary role is undergraduate sea training in navigational skills and seamanship to prepare university students for a career in the Royal Navy. The Irish Naval Service availed of the opportunity to conduct professional maritime training (non-military) whilst the vessels were in Ireland as part of a routine visit.
