45. Deputy Sean Fleming asked the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence the number of applications for discharge from the Defence Forces that took in excess of four months to be completed in 2018; the number on hand in which the process has not been completed within four months of the application date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The reasons and process for discharge of enlisted personnel from the Permanent Defence Force are governed by Defence Force Regulations and this is reflected in the manner data is collated by the military authorities. The specific information requested by the Deputy is not maintained in a readily available format. The task of accessing this information is not possible in the timeframe given. The military authorities are working on the request.
