967. Deputy Róisín Shortall asked the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government the expected timetable for the commencement of each individual section or provision of the Residential Tenancies (Amendment) Act 2019. [23525/19]
View answerOn 30 May 2019 I signed the Residential Tenancies (Amendment) Act 2019 (Commencement) Order 2019. This Order appoints 31 May 2019 and 4 June 2019 as the dates on which specified provisions of the Residential Tenancies (Amendment) Act 2019 come into effect. The remaining provisions to bring the RTB’s new investigation and sanctioning powers into force and the provisions relating to student-specific accommodation and to short-term letting are planned for commencement in July.
The provisions requiring the annual registration of tenancies are planned for commencement in Q1 2020. Preparations are underway in the RTB to roll out a simple online registration system to cater for annual registration.
