As the Deputy will appreciate, it is the Garda Commissioner who is responsible for managing An Garda Síochána, including personnel matters.

I have asked the Garda Commissioner for the information requested and I will write directly to the Deputy when I receive it.

The following deferred reply was received under Standing Order 42A
I refer to Parliamentary Question No. 349 for answer on Tuesday, 2 July 2019 the text of which was as follows: "To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality the number of gardaí by rank attached to the warrants and summons unit in DMR north Garda division to date in 2019; and if he will make a statement on the matter.”
At the time I responded that I would request the information sought by the Deputy from the Garda Commissioner and that I would write directly to him on receipt of same.
As the Deputy will appreciate, it is the Garda Commissioner who is responsible for managing An Garda Síochána, including personnel matters.
I am advised by the Commissioner that the DMR North Divisions comprises of Ballymun, Coolock, Balbriggan, and Raheny Garda Districts. Local Garda management report that there are 10 full-time members attached to the warrants and summons unit in the DMR North. There are a further four members who also have responsibility for warrants and summonses, in addition to managing and processing firearm applications and inspections.
I am further advised by the Commissioner that members attached to the warrants and summons unit are all of Garda rank and are supervised by the working unit Sergeant.
An Garda Síochána has a duty to ensure that warrants and court orders are executed expeditiously. Accordingly, warrants and court orders are executed and processed by members of An Garda Síochána on a case-by-case, incident-by-incident basis, as well as by dedicated personnel tasked with responsibility for warrants and summonses.
I hope that this information is of assistance.
