176. Deputy Catherine Martin asked the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment his plans to appoint a hub controller installer for residents in County Monaghan that applied for the heating controls grant under the SEAI. [37840/19]
View answerMy Department funds the Better Energy Homes scheme which is administered by the SEAI. Works that are grant funded under the scheme, such as the installation of fully integrated heating controls, must be carried out by an installer listed on SEAI’s register of contractors. As Minister I have no function in relation to the registration of contractors. In order to be listed on the SEAI register, contractors are required to give a commitment to undertake all works in accordance with the scheme's technical specifications; demonstrate tax compliance and insurance cover; and co-operate with the scheme’s quality assurance programme.
I note that there are a number of contractors who are registered to install fully integrated heating controls operating in County Monaghan.
