Broughan asked the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence if funding has been provided in 2019 for the upgrade of the fire detection and firefighting system at the Oil Wharf naval base in Haulbowline; if so, when work will commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In 2018, some €2.4m was allocated for the upgrade of the fire detection and firefighting system at the Oil Wharf, Naval Base in Haulbowline. Following a competitive tendering process, Foyles Engineering Ltd was appointed and works commenced on site in May 2018. It is expected that the works will be completed by end 2019.
