257. Deputy Anne Rabbitte asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the number of gardaí in east County Galway; the stations where these gardaí are located; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [41772/19]
View answerThe Garda Commissioner has responsibility for managing An Garda Síochána and for the allocation of Garda resources, in light of identified operational demands. This includes responsibility for personnel matters and the distribution of personnel across the varoius Garda Divisions. As Minister I have no direct role in these matters. I understand however that Garda management keeps the distribution of resources under continual review in the context of crime trends and policing priorities, to ensure their optimum use.
I wish to inform the Deputy that the Garda strength of Galway Division in each of the years 2011 to 2018 and to date in 2019, as provided by the Commissioner, is available on my Department’s website through the following link.
