Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government the number of full-time and part-time civil servants his Department has recruited by grade in each of the years 2014 to 2018 and to date in 2019; the number of full-time and part-time civil servants his Department has lost due to retirement by grade in the same period; and if he will make a statement on the matter. It should be noted that my Department has had several changes in function during the period from 2014 to date. The figures include staff who subsequently moved to the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment and the Department of Rural and Community Development as a result of those changes of functions. The total numbers of full time equivalent staff that transferred under these transfers of functions was 141.38.
All staff were recruited on a full-time basis but can subsequently apply for alternative, non full-time working patterns under the Civil Services' family friendly working practices.
