View answerDirective (EU) 2019/904, published on 12 June 2019, enables the introduction of measures to reduce the impact of certain plastic products on the environment. The measures in the Directive are applicable equally to plastic and compostable/biodegradable items.
The most efficient measures to achieve this will be explored in the context of developing a Circular Economy Strategy. A stakeholder consultation on developing the new Strategy was launched on 16 September 2019.
