363. Deputy James Browne asked the Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht the position regarding the Official Languages Act 2003 and its amendments; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [44024/19]
View answerThe position regarding the preparation of the Official Languages (Amendment) Bill, the Heads of which were published in 2017, is that further consultation with stakeholders has taken place and officials from my Department are continuing to work closely with officials from the Office of the Parliamentary Counsel to finalise the draft Bill. I am happy to confirm that substantial progress has been made with the drafting of the Bill over the past number of months and that it has been listed on the Government's Legislative Programme to be published during the current session.
