99. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the status of a Nigerian national who is in this jurisdiction and in a permanent relationship; if their case falls to be dealt with under the terms of the Dublin Convention or otherwise post-Brexit; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerI must inform the Deputy that nationals of Nigeria require a visa to travel to Ireland and may be granted permission to enter the state by an immigration officer at the port of entry. Should the Nigerian national have applied to come to Ireland to join his or her spouse, civil partner or de facto partner who is legally resident here, it would be necessary for them to register with the immigration office in the area in which they reside.
However, as the Deputy has not provided any detail about the person on whose behalf he has put his question, I am not in a position to advise further.
