Deputy Martin Heydon asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if, under the beef exceptional aid measure, some registered farm partnerships with more than two herd numbers can receive payments per partner while other registered farm partnerships are limited to one payment; if so, the reason therefor; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerThe objective of the Beef Exceptional Aid Measure (BEAM) is to provide temporary exceptional adjustment aid to farmers in the beef sector in Ireland. BEAM is funded by a combination of EU aid and Exchequer support, provided in light of the difficult circumstances that Irish beef farmers have been facing as a result of market volatility and uncertainty.
Payments under BEAM are made on the basis of eligible animals within an eligible herd rather than per individual or per partnership. Any herd that satisfies the criteria outlined in the scheme T&Cs located on the Department website at https://www.agriculture.gov.ie/farmerschemespayments/beam/ is eligible for payment at the rates specified. If a partnership has more than one herd, each herd may be entitled to payment subject to the eligibility criteria.
