Questions (104)

Bernard Durkan

Question:

104. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Skills the extent to which he has had discussions with the authorities at a school (details supplied) recently with a view to meeting the accommodation requirements at the school by way of temporary arrangements in circumstances in which they are appropriate in order to ensure the minimum disturbance of existing and future students and mitigate the over-reliance of referral to other schools; if the existing site has been deemed adequate to meet temporary accommodation requirements or an ASD unit; if the needs of students will be fully met in 2020; the extent to which he has issued approval for temporary accommodation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I can confirm to the Deputy that a request for temporary accommodation has been received from the school. It has been advised to incorporate decanting solutions into its design plan for this building project and any identified need for temporary accommodation will be provided in that context.
