To be in receipt of a Jobseeker's payment from my Department an individual must be capable of; available for and actively seeking full time employment. This applies to all individuals who are on a jobseeker's payment and are on the Live Register.  For those jobseekers up to the age of 62 they are required to engage with the Department’s activation services, including those delivered through JobPath. In the case of the individual concerned, as they are under 62 years of age they are therefore required to engage with these services.

JobPath provides intensive activation support on a one to one basis to Jobseekers who are long term unemployed.  The supports provided typically include Job Seeking skills, CV preparation and Interview skills.   Personal Advisors work with JobPath participants to address any other specific, individual requirements.  I would encourage the customer concerned to engage with the service in assisting them to find employment.

I trust this information is of assistance to the Deputy.
