Deputy Sorca Clarke asked the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection the number of applications from counties Longford and Westmeath for the domiciliary care allowance in 2019 and to date in 2020, in tabular form; the number of applications that were refused in the same period; and the number later granted on appeal for the same period. The data requested in respect of domiciliary care allowance (DCA) is not routinely collated on an individual county basis and as a result is not available.

National data, for 2019, the last full year for which data on DCA is available, is shown below. Details of the applications processed in 2019, together with the outcomes, both at initial decision stage and subsequently on appeal are listed below .

The appeals finalised in any particular year do not generally correspond to applications refused in the same year, therefore it is not possible to provide an exact percentage of applications refused and subsequently appealed.
