Deputy Matt Carthy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the body that will have responsibility for conducting a baseline biodiversity survey on each farm; the estimated timeframe to conduct such a survey; the estimated cost of such a survey; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht is responsible for biodiversity policy in Ireland.

The draft programme for government includes a commitment to conduct a baseline biodiversity survey on farms. Responsibilities, costs and timelines associated with the proposed commitment are not, as yet, agreed.
